email: amarti@tinet.org. FARISTOL: A TASTE OF HISTORY Faristol ( music stand in Catalan), is the happy combination of Agustí Martí, cook, art and antic collector and musician and Lynne who he met in Bristol University where he was a Spanish Tutor. Together they have created this enchanting Restaurand and litle hotel in an old XVIII cantury Mansion in the heart of the old town of Altafulla. The house was build by prosperous merchants trading with South America called "Indianos" and it?s a mixture of Catalan and colonial style. All around you can enjoy a unique town with narrow streets sourrende with monumental houses and at the top of the hill an impresive medieval castle property of the Marquis of Tamarit.

   Altafulla
Only ten Kilometers from Tarragona, capital of the Roman Empire in Spain, Altafulla is a small enclave on the Mediterranean with an enchanting mixture of history, tradition and peaceful beauty. Over the years Altafulla has preserved the beauty of its historic buildings, once the source of fame and wealth throughout many centuries. The old part of Altafulla is built upon a small hill overlooking the Mediterranean coast and is crowned with an ancient castle dating from the twelfth century. The castle has been successivly remodelled so that today it has an air of grat nobility. Around the castle we find the 'Vila Closa' that is to say a number of noble houses dating from the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries, which lend the village its elegant and enchanting atmosphere. The other part of Altafulla is down by the sea, and there, we can find a contrast in the old fisherman}s cottages and the modern but beautiful seafront buildings overlooking a pretty little beach with fine golden sand. Altafulla has been renowned for inspiring famous artist and writers by their pretty corners and at the end of August, is the host town for an important festival classical music, which has boasted the participation over the years of leading choral groups such as The Scholars, The swingle Singers, Cantabile etc. and of leading solo artist such as Victoria de los Angeles and Marjorie Vance
